Overview
BrainGear is a productivity app that helps you break tasks into smaller steps using AI. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how the app handles your data.
Data We Collect
We do not collect personal data. BrainGear does not require an account, email address, or any personal information to use.
Data Stored on Your Device
All task data (task titles, steps, completion history, and app settings) is stored locally on your device using an on-device database. This data never leaves your device except as described below.
Data Sent to Our Servers
When you create a new task, the task title you enter is sent to our API server for AI processing. Our server forwards this text to OpenAI's API to generate micro-steps.
- What is sent: Only the task title text you type (e.g., "Clean my apartment")
- What is NOT sent: Your completed steps, task history, settings, or any device information
- Storage: Task titles are not stored on our servers. They are processed in real-time and discarded.
- Third party: OpenAI processes the task title to generate steps. OpenAI retains API inputs for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deletes them. OpenAI does not use API data for model training. See OpenAI's privacy policy for details.
Third-Party Services
- OpenAI API: Used to generate micro-steps from your task titles. OpenAI retains API inputs for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring. OpenAI does not use API data for model training. See OpenAI's API data usage policy.
- Cloudflare Workers: Our API proxy runs on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare may log IP addresses and request metadata as part of standard infrastructure operations. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- RevenueCat: Used to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat collects anonymous user IDs, purchase receipts, and basic device information (device type, OS version) to process subscriptions. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Analytics and Tracking
BrainGear does not use any analytics services, tracking pixels, or advertising SDKs. We do not track your usage patterns, screen views, or behavior within the app.
Data Retention
- On-device data: Remains on your device until you delete the app or clear its data.
- Server-side: No task data is retained on our servers.
- OpenAI: Retains API inputs for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deletes them.
- RevenueCat: Retains subscription data as described in their privacy policy.
International Data Transfers
Your task title text may be processed by services based in the United States, including OpenAI and Cloudflare. These transfers are necessary to provide the app's core functionality.
Children's Privacy
BrainGear does not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). The app does not require any personal information to use.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights:
